Jordi Alós MX, b. 1993

"I have never really liked following certain rules in painting. I like to have that carefree side and look for my own language."
Jordi Alós (b. 1993, Mexico City) is a Mexican-Spanish painter whose work navigates the territory between figuration, street culture, and questions of identity. At the heart of his practice is the Machango - a figure drawn from Canarian vernacular that he translates into paintings charged with music, irony, and rebellion. Rooted in the tradition of art brut, his work explores how we are shaped by environment, culture, and shared memory. Alós has exhibited internationally at König Galerie (Mexico City), Black Gallery (Antwerp), and Vroom and Varossieau (Amsterdam), and is held in private collections across Mexico, the United States, Europe, and Asia.
