A painter who veiwed the world through “innocent eyes.” One who painted from a place of genuine joy in life and did not seem to be gripped by the existential doubts of our time. That was Peter Bol (1947-2024, NL). Peter Bol was a daydreamer in the most serious sense of the word. Bol lost himself in nature and observed it intently. In this “daydream,” he saw a paradise forgotten by adults, a world that exists completely outside of time. A world in which strength and fragile tenderness coexist and which, through paint, takes shape as a spontaneous, rhythmic, and dynamic landscape that deserves to be viewed at length and with care.
