Overview

Interweaving of cultures
In an era where cultures are under threat, the issue of cultural identity becomes problematic and takes on a new urgency. The reason for this importance lies in preserving the traditional cultures and values that are carefully intertwined in the entanglements of globalization.

Persian rugs
For this project, Lieverse uses hand-woven Persian carpets, a cultural heritage from the East. With patterns that depict flower gardens, Persian rugs symbolize paradise. Today, these carpets are bleached on a large scale to suit Western tastes.

Paradise
In this project, Lieverse places the original meaning in today's context. The woven paradises become facial tattoos, calling for reflection on the current situation and the need for a holistic approach in redefining society.
