CAMERON PLATTER //
During Art Rotterdam, we will be showing the premiere of an artist new to MPV Gallery. Cameron Platter (b. 1978, ZA) is a South African contemporary artist known for his eclectic and thought-provoking works. His work in drawing, painting, sculpture, tapestry, ceramics, video and digital appropriates and filters the vast amount of information available today in a very personal and idiosyncratic way. His postmodern and multidisciplinary approach to making art, blurs the distinction between high and low, and draws from such diverse sources as art history, ecology, psychedelics, fast food, advertising, therapy, education and consumerism.

GIJS VAN LITH //
Gijs van Lith (b. 1984, Eindhoven, the Netherlands) creates work that focuses not on the end result, but on the creation process. The choice of painting materials and the working method play an important role in this. Van Lith paints layer after layer, but sometimes scratches and sands 'to the bone'. Craters and caves, accumulations and holes are therefore no exceptions in his paintings. In Gijs van Lith's latest series of paintings, he examines the movement of his hand or arm, in which it is not a matter of marking, but in which his state of mind is reflected. He is concerned with a pure state of mind, full of naivety, hesitation, openness and wonderful discoveries.

ART VAN TRIEST //

Central to the work of Art van Triest (b. 1983, NL) is the human tendency to combat our fundamental fears with a system, in order to get a grip on the world around us and satisfy our need for control. With his experimental work, the artist aims to provide a visual counterpoint to the simplification and standardization that man imposes on his environment. He aims for a more realistic view of the world, in which we as humans can relate to reality more completely.
