PRESENTATION MPV GALLERY | ART ROTTERDAM BOOTH 64
MPV Gallery presents the following artists at Art Rotterdam 2020:
Daan Gielis (1988, BE)
Gijs van Lith (1984, NL)
Mike Ballard (1972, UK)

GIJS VAN LITH
Gijs van Lith (1984, NL) takes a sculptural approach in his work and presentation, to explore the boundaries of the medium and to give himself more freedom in the creative process. He works on both sides of the canvas. This can be interpreted as the epitome of his constant push-and-pull dialogue with the material and the medium; inward and outward, add and remove, create and destroy. He considers his work to be "always in progress". www.gijsvanlith.nl

DAN GIELIS
Daan Gielis (1988, BE) explores in his work the emotional, communicative and social systems that together form the world in which we live. Although these systems, according to Gielis, are steeped in contradictions, these systems thrive precisely because of their internal contradictions. In this way he refers to the difficulty that many people experience in finding coherence in their lives. Gielis tackles this struggle, starting from his own experiences. www.daangielis.be

MIKE BALLARD
Mike Ballard (1972, UK) he investigates the surpluses generated by the urban landscape. His sculptural work has a formal allure, alluding to the aesthetics of urban renewal and the imposed boundaries of public space. In his recent work he experiments with industrial paint and toner, exploring the patterns left on the contours of the city by stickers, posters and other unauthorized advertising. www.mikeballard.co.uk
