"For me designing is a sport and creativity is a muscle that I train every day."
Richard Hutten is a Dutch designer best known for his humorous designs with a sharp eye for functionality. He started at the age of seventeen at the Eindhoven Design Academy, then still called the Academy of Industrial Design (AVI) Eindhoven. Hutten was part of a contemporary lighting of successful designers. He wondered in 1991, in the same year as Piet Hein Eek, Jurgen Bey and Hella Jongerius. Shortly afterwards he started Richard Hutten Studio, his own design studio in Rotterdam. Hutten is now regarded as one of the most influential Dutch designers.
